The Star
She reached the summit in less than an hour. The sun was already a rosy sphere on the horizon by the time she arrived. She took a while to find a comfortable spot on a rock and sat down to catch her breath.
- What a marvellous landscape! she reflected for the millionth time.
She never tired of looking down into the valley below her, letting her gaze wander as far as time allowed. She always had the impression that here she was removed from her daily routine, her preoccupations, and all the problems of the contemporary world.
As she contemplated the magnificent sunlit landscape below her, she suddenly felt herself rising out of her body so that she could see it... observing her. It was not a new sensation but usually she decided to reunite with her body straight away.
- What would happen if I went on rising even higher? she mused. I wonder what could happen...
- Anything could happen, replied the mysterious voice of Amor behind her. Adventure, the unknown...
She spun round quickly and saw Amor seated on a glass platform.
- What are you doing there? she asked once she had recovered from her surprise, reassured by the familiar presence of her guide.
-Today, I am the liftman, he teased. I invite you to join me so that I can share my universe with you.
She hesitated a few seconds but, when she saw his good humor, she could not refuse. She took her place beside him on the translucent platform through which she could see her body sitting below her on the rock, gazing down into the valley.
-See you later, she called to her physical envelope.
